LISTEN
The one and only formative power given to man is thought. By his thinking he not only makes character, but body and affairs, for "as he thinketh within himself, so is he."
Charles Fillmore
I know I spend lots of time in my own head. For me the real question is how do I make that time more than just the clunking of cogs between my ears?
There are moments in time that I think I see things clearly as they are. Those moments however are fleeting.
How do I put aside the ego, bias (yes everyone has “Bias”), the noise of daily life, and the “shoulds” that surround me?
I need to work on my listening skills. In many conversations I get way ahead of the game and start thinking of the next response or area of interest. I see way too many rabbits out of the corners of my eyes.
Meditation helps me a little, but even in meditation my mind sees rabbits.
When I really listen the world has many more colors. I see more clearly what people want to attract to themselves. I see the variety that life can lay before me. I can be more compassionate and more aware of the subtle under currents that boil beneath the surface of the interactions.
So........
I hope that you all will join me in the attempt to be a better listener and maybe we can laugh more at life and love more.
Thanks for reading the missive,
