The New Norm

April 2, 2020
The old saying, we’re either a part of the problem or a part of the solution is so true now. But hey, wait a minute; isn’t there a middle road? Can’t I just stay home and read and not be either a problem or a solution? Okay, maybe; but what if we see that the curing of COVID-19 is not our problem, ours is the loneliness and anxiety of friends and neighbors, and that we can join the doctors and nurses on their solution team by just making a list of those with whom to stay in touch, and then working that list every week with a phone or text message, cookies on a doorstep, prayers, emailed items of interest or whatever we imagine. No, we can’t cure the virus, but aren’t our personal touches called for right now? Then shall we step up?
