When the holiday season rolls around it means many things to different people. People revel in the Black Friday and Cyber-Monday sales. Others spend time renewing their faith in their chosen religion or belief system. Some people get lost in the joy of Santa Claus and the Xmas sparkle in young children's eyes.
To me it means the end of fall with it's coat of many colors and the beginning of renewed joy in my heart. The joy I feel is is not about winter arriving, it is the about the kindness that humans are capable of.
This time of year I believe that most people relate to each other better than any other season of the year. It may not be giant things that people do, but it is the many small kindnesses they do without much thought.
Allowing someone to go ahead of you in line at the grocery store, saying hello to someone you don't know as you pass by, giving of what you have to help a stranger, putting up a bird feeder, etc.
Winter Solstice, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Diwali, Bod hi Day and Hanukkah are all a celebration of the changing of the seasons. They all are good times to turn off the negative news and turn on your compassion for all on the spaceship Earth.
Love and Peace,
